Home

Pick up where you left off and see what is worth revisiting.

Continue

Home is a desk, not a feed. Under Now, Continue holds what you are in the middle of, with a one-tap Log button, and Next up the next volumes.

Home has three areas to know. Continue holds what you are in the middle of, each with a Log button. This week is one card about your week. For today is one suggestion picked for the day. The rest appears only when it has something to say.

How Home is ordered

Now comes first: Shelf Adventures, then Tonight on the night a Circle meets (a Circle is a regular group, such as your game night), what is new since your last visit, then Continue and Next up. In your first two weeks it starts with an Add an item field and one next step.

This week is one card about the week so far, or about last week while this week has nothing in it yet.

After that come the card for today, last week's letter while it is unopened, the Review line, On this day on a date with a memory, Not sure what to do today? and Following. A phone ends with a folded Latest added row: the covers that came onto your shelves last.

On a wide computer, For today and Following stand in a column on the right and everything else stays in the main column. On a phone, a row of chips under Continue lists your shelves.

What Continue holds

Continue holds items in progress that you touched in the last fortnight: three on a phone, up to four on a wider screen. A series is one card however many volumes are open.

While Home is open the cards keep their places, so a second Log press lands where you aimed; next time, the one you logged comes first. A card's Log button names what it repeats, such as Log 59m or Log Vol. 6.

With more than fit, All in progress has the rest, newest session first.

Next up

Next up holds the next volume of each series you are reading, the one after your latest session; Start it opens the log sheet on that volume. A Circle meeting in the next few days is a card there too.

The lines around Continue

When some of what you started has gone quiet, a row asks “Still on everything you started?”; it leads to the Shelf check.

On a day with nothing new since your last visit on that device, one line above Continue says so (Nothing new since yesterday).

The line called Your first week

For your first two weeks, Home keeps a card called Your first week. It counts a few steps (5 of 7 done), such as logging your first session or adding a first item to each shelf you chose. None of it is required, and ideas for later sit apart under Later ideas.

Opened, the card is a ledger, a dated list that fills in: the steps still open first, each with its button, then what you have done, each with its date. Hide puts it away, with Undo, and it leaves on its own after the fortnight.

On the day of your first session, Day one leads Home: a summary of the day and when your first letter arrives.

Each card's Log button (Log 59m, or Log Vol. 6 on a series) logs it once more with last time's settings. More in

Logging again.

For today

After This week, one line chosen for today: the letter, a memory, a closed season, a record or the next volume.

How today's line is chosen, and dismissing it

After This week, one line is chosen for today, in a fixed order: a season that just closed, Monday's letter, a memory from this day, a Circle meeting tomorrow, a record, a Circle gone quiet, an unopened letter, a first anniversary, then the next volume of a series you just finished. Its button opens it.

Only one shows at a time, and the first one you see stays for the rest of the day on that device.

The longer your history, the better the pick: a memory needs a year behind it.

A memory opens into the whole card, with Why this? under its More for this memory button.

On a wide computer, For today is a card in the right column.

Why this? says why this card and not another. A card you dismiss stays dismissed on every device.

Shelf check

Once a week the Shelf check asks about five items gone quiet: Still on it, Set aside or Finished it. One tap each, and nothing changes on its own.

When the row “Still on everything you started?” shows under Continue, press it.

Answer each one with Still on it, Set aside or Finished it. One tap each.

After the last one, the check closes with “Shelf's tidy until next Sunday”.

On any day but the check's, the row opens no sheet: a line under it says when the check comes.

When it shows, and the weekly five

The row shows when something in progress has had no session in two weeks, or was never started. Once a week, on Sunday (or on Monday when last week's went unanswered), the check asks about five of them, and each answer is stamped on with the date.

Once you answer all five, the next five wait for next week, unless you ask for five more. Nothing ever changes on its own.

An account in its first week gets no Shelf check.

Clean-up lines, and answering them all

A clean-up line spots a series with gaps in its ticks and offers to fill them, or to leave them as read out of order.

When five items or more have had no session for six months, a line offers to set them aside, with the list to look over first and Undo after.

Answer them all lists every one to answer in one sitting, the ones you never started apart; you can search it or narrow it to one shelf. Everything in progress lists everything you have started.

This week

The week as a ledger, a short record of sessions, time, the best moment and who was in it. It stays open or folded the way you last left it.

What the week card counts, and its heading

The week card shows Sessions, Time, what you did Mostly, the Circle you played with, what you Finished and Added, and the best moment of the week with the people in it.

It says what happened, never how much less you did than the week before. The last eight weeks sit under it as a row; a quiet week is a gap and nothing else.

Its heading says Last week or This week so far, with the week's dates. For your first two weeks it is Your log so far, counting everything since you started, imported sessions included.

Under the figures, Latest lists the week's newest sessions; a week with none yet shows Lately, your last few sessions, instead.

Open or folded, and when it stays away

It stays as you leave it: open on a computer and one line on a phone until you fold or open it.

Opened, seven small squares beside its heading show the week day by day.

For the first seven days after a quarter closes, the season review is the card for today, with all of them on Stats.

On a Monday when the week's letter is the card for today, the week card stays away, so its figures are said once.

The line for an unopened letter

When last week's letter is still unopened, a line under the card for today says so, with Read it. Letters are also in the sidebar under Your record, and in More on a phone.

Following

Following shows the three newest updates from people you follow in the last two weeks, and only when there is something. It is in the right column on a wide computer and near the foot of a phone's Home.

More about the feed

Wide screens, the foot of Home and your first days

On a wide computer, the main column is Tonight, Continue, Next up and the This week card, with For today and Following in the column on the right. On a phone, a narrow window, and in your first two weeks, everything follows in one column.

A phone's Home ends with a folded Latest added row, the covers that came onto your shelves last. On this day is in Now on any date you logged something in an earlier year, with what it was and with whom; on a computer it shows your note beside the cover. On a phone, its More for this memory button holds See the note and details, Don't show this one again and Why this?

For your first two weeks, Home has an Add an item field under the date, with a Scan barcodes button at its end when you keep a shelf that can be scanned; importing a list is in the same sheet. A new or small shelf keeps its strip of covers in view, as a card with Add beside its heading. One next step leads: Log your first session, then Again, the last item you can log again, with its Log button.

A brand-new account's Home asks How do you want to start?, with three cards: Log something you did lately, Add items to a shelf and import a list. Nothing is recorded until you save it.

Every Monday the week also becomes a letter, kept with all the others:

The Monday letter.

Tonight

On the evening a Circle (your regular group) meets, Home leads with it: a banner naming the night and its game, with Start the table and Log tonight.

On the evening your Circle usually meets, open Home. Tonight comes first, under Shelf Adventures.

Press Start the table to play with everyone typing their own score, or Log tonight beside it to log the night yourself.

Once the night is logged, the card says so and offers Log another game.

Start the table opens table mode, full screen on the phone. Everyone at the table joins from their own phone with a short code and types their own score, and the host files the night as one session when the game ends.

The example uses Tuesday, September 29, so Robin's Tuesday Crew appears under Tonight. On your own Home, a Circle appears there on the day it meets.

The Tonight card, on a phone and on a computer

When two Circles meet the same day, the next one to play has the card and the other is one line under it.

On your phone

One banner: Tonight, the Circle's name and night, the game it expects with Change beside it, then Start the table and Log tonight side by side.

On a computer

A computer shows the same banner in Now, the game line under the title and the two buttons at its right.

On both

Either way its title opens the Circle, with the season's standings, the last result and the games for the table.

Logging the night, and the morning after

Log tonight opens the log sheet on the Circle with its people in and, when the Circle has suggestions, three games as tiles. Save and log another brings the tiles back for the next game.

Once the night is logged, the card says Tonight · logged and offers Log another game.

A Circle that meets rather than plays, like a book club, keeps Log the meeting.

The morning after a night nobody logged, the card stays as Last night, with Log last night, which opens the log sheet on yesterday.

Once last night is logged, the card shows its games and who won for the rest of the day.

The day before, and what Home leaves out

The day before a game night, a card gets the table ready: three games that seat the usual crowd, the season's standings and one tap to make a game the pick.

A meeting a few days off is a card in Next up, under Continue.

A Circle that has gone quiet (three times its usual gap and at least 90 days) gets no card.

A game made for two, such as 7 Wonders Duel or Sky Team, is never suggested to a table of three or more.
