Make it yours
Themes and accents, text size, cover styles and a little flair.
Themes and accents
Light, dark, or whatever your device is set to: the theme is in Settings > Look, beside the text size.
Open Settings > Look.
For Theme, pick Light, Dark or System, which follows your device.
Tap an accent colour to try it on across the app before you decide.
What is free, and what comes with Supporter
The theme is free, and it is kept on your account, so your phone and your laptop agree.
The accent is the colour of buttons, links and highlights, and only you see it. Indigo is everyone's; the other five come with Supporter.
Your public profile's theme
Your public profile has colours of its own, for visitors: Default, Midnight, Paper, Arcade, Shade, Tavern, Floe, The Observatory, The Archive, Enchanted Grove, Neon After Hours, Terminal, Blueprint, Newsprint or Dungeon. Profile colours are free for everyone, on the Profile page card of Settings > Profile.
Text size and cover images
Device default, Standard or Larger sets the text size, and the app makes room for larger text. Cover images decides whether this device loads catalogue art.
For Text size, pick Device default, Standard or Larger.
What Larger changes
Larger moves every word up a step, for reading at arm's length. Device default, which you start on, is Larger on a phone and Standard elsewhere. A choice of Standard or Larger follows your account to every device.
Larger text set in your browser or phone
A larger text size set in your browser or phone works too:
The top bar folds its last places into a ··· menu when they no longer fit, and at half as large again or more it scrolls away with the page instead of staying pinned, so the words have the screen.
On a computer the sidebar keeps to icons, each with its name beside it when you point at it, and scrolls on its own.
A sheet then scrolls as one, its title and buttons with the form, and a Circle's floating button shrinks to a round +.
On the Log sheet, a Recent row's Log button moves under its title when the row runs out of room, and a wide table, like a Circle's standings, scrolls sideways inside its own box.
What Cover images loads
Cover images, just below Text size, decides whether this device loads catalogue art.
Catalogue covers, the default, loads every cover small, about 15 KB each, an item's own page too.
Drawn covers only loads no catalogue images at all: every cover is drawn by ShelfChronicles, and your own photos still show.
It is kept on this device, since a phone on mobile data and a laptop at home may want different things.
Cover styles
Anything without catalogue art gets a drawn cover: Simple by default, or Classic, each shelf's own drawing. A look can dress a whole series or one volume.
Open a comic, a manga or a book.
Press Cover, under its cover (on a phone, it is in the page's ⋯ menu).
Pick a preset. The cover is redrawn as you pick.
How drawn covers look
A series gets one look for the whole run, so twelve volumes read as a set on the shelf; a simple cover prints the volume number at its foot. Each shelf adds one quiet detail of its own, like a spine band on books or a lid line on board games. Classic covers come in colour for comics and stay black and white for manga, as it is printed. Settings > Look > Drawn covers picks Simple or Classic for every cover you have not chosen a look for. The choice is kept on your account, so it follows you to every device, and your profile and the links you share show your covers in it to whoever opens them.
Presets, Customize and the plan
Every preset is free: Simple and its colours, the classic layouts and palettes, and for comics the modern action layouts and genre scenes. Customize, part by part (the title's typeface, a figure or a scene, the background, the border), is part of Supporter. Anyone can try every option and see it live; keeping a design needs the plan.
In Customize, under Image, a Hero figure (Charge, Flight, Leap and the others) brings two choices side by side: Figure, Hero or Heroine (drawn slimmer, with a ponytail), and Cape. With the title at the foot, a tall pose is drawn smaller rather than through the top edge, so the figure stays inside the cover.
Flair
Avatar flair frames your avatar and motion brings its icon alive; decorations dress what other people see. All of it comes with Supporter.
Avatar flair and motion
What is free on your avatar, and what flair adds
Your avatar's icon and colour are free, they are who you are, not decoration. Avatar flair (eighteen of them, from Sparkles to Woodland Keeper, under More frames, with the one you wear named beside it) frames it and always moves on its own loop; motion, Still or Alive, is for the icon inside. Both come with Supporter. Anyone whose device asks for less motion sees them still.
Settings has two places for this. Settings > Look is how the app looks to you: theme, text size, accent and covers, which only you see. Settings > Profile is you as others see you: your name, username and bio, the Avatar card (its icon, colour, flair and motion) and the Profile page card (its colours, Decorate and the Supporter badge).
Decorations
Where decorations show
Decorations go on what other people see: a frame, pieces and an effect on your profile card and on each kind of card you share (its picture, and the page its link opens), and a small trim beside your name in their feeds and lists. There are nineteen sets, such as Tabletop, Screening, Plunder and Holo Card. They are part of Supporter, and Decorate, on the Profile page card of Settings > Profile, is where you choose them.
Shelf dressing
What a shelf can wear
Each shelf dresses on its own: a category's, All shelves, and every smart shelf; tick Same on every shelf to dress them all at once. The title takes a nameplate (twenty-two, from Brass, Neon and Chalkboard to Typewriter, Synthwave, License plate and Graffiti) in one of twelve colours, and a sigil before it (over forty, from a D20 to a Treasure map), Still or Alive under Sigil motion. On a computer the bookcase takes a finish (from Oak and Walnut to Marble and Cardboard), its hanging tags a style (Kraft, Index card, Sticky note, Luggage tag, Dog tag and more), a trinket on each top corner (a Plant, a Rubber duck, a Globe, a Controller and more) and something along the top (Fairy lights, Bunting, Ivy, Paper stars, Pixel hearts, Cobwebs or a Paper chain). A smart shelf's sigil also marks it in the sidebar, the shelf menu and its chip, so your saved views tell apart at a glance.
On a phone the title is what gets dressed: it runs across the top of the shelf with its sigil at both ends, and a tap on it (or the three dots on the bar) opens the same panel. Shelf dressing is part of Supporter; anyone can try it on, and only you see it.
Robin's plan includes all of these, so everything opens here. On your own account, anything marked Supporter can be tried on first; it is only kept with the plan.
Your history, your recaps and your export are never behind the plan. For what else it adds,
