People and friends
The people you play and read with, friends on ShelfChronicles, following, the feed, invites and your inbox.
People
Your people are private labels: no account needed, and adding one sends nothing. A name shows to friends who were there, and on a Circle link made With names.
People has three tabs: People you log with, Friends and Circles, each with its count. A search for your people, Circles and accounts sits above them, and the page opens on the tab you used last.
Type a name on a session, or press Add someone on the People you log with tab, and they become one of your people.
Next time, pick them under Who was there when you log a session.
Open them from the list, their page fills with everything you do together.
A person's page is the long view of one friendship: sessions together, what you do most, who wins when you play, your best nights and every session, newest first. Log with them from the button at the top.
The name is yours to write. Friends who were at a session see it there (you can turn that off in Settings > Who sees what), and the people who join a live table see the names you seat. Nobody else sees it, except on a Circle's share link you make With names.
Renaming, merging and archiving
The ⋯ menu beside Log with on their page has Link to an account, Rename, Merge and Archive. Merge moves their sessions to the person you pick and cannot be undone. Archive takes someone out of your lists and pickers without touching a session: their page then shows Filed with a Restore button, and they wait under Archived at the foot of the list.
Friends
Friends are accounts.
Friendship is mutual, asked and answered, and it does two things: it lets a person in your log be linked to their account, so a game night lands in both your histories, and it makes the two of you follow each other.
On the People page, search for their name or @name.
Press Add friend on their row, or on their profile.
Wait for their answer. A request sent to you waits on the Friends tab, under Asked you, with Accept and Decline.
Declining is quiet; the other side is not told.
Finding a friend among the people you log with
The strongest way to find a friend is someone you already log with. Press Link to an account in the ⋯ menu on their page and type their username: they get a friend request that says how many sessions you share, and nothing reaches their log until they accept.
An empty Friends or Following list is one line, with a question beside it that opens its explanation.
Following
Following is one way and needs no yes.
It decides what reaches your feed: the public activity of anyone you follow, and friends-only activity once you are friends too.
Find them with the search on the People page, or open their profile.
Press Follow on their row or their profile. Everyone you follow is listed under Following on the Friends tab.
Robin follows Mei, whose shelves are open to anyone.
When someone shares with friends only
Following someone who keeps things for friends says so at the time, so a quiet feed is never a mystery.
Unfollowing and Undo
Unfollowing is silent. The message that follows has Undo, which follows again from the day you first did, with no second notice to them. After that, the follow waits 30 days in History › Removed, where Restore does the same.
The feed
The feed is the latest from the people you follow: what they logged, finished, added and earned, newest first. Filter it by who and by what.
What the feed shows, and its filters
The feed is your friends' hobbies rather than posts: what they logged, finished, added and earned. There is nothing to write in it. A row never shows a person's name from someone's log, a feeling or a note.
A burst is one row: a whole import, or a handful of adds in an evening, folds together with a few covers and Show all.
What reaches the feed is yours to decide, by default, by kind, or one session at a time.
Invites
Someone you log with can have their side of it: a link that opens on the nights you shared. Signing up from it links their account to the person in your log.
Open the person's page from the People page.
Press See what Maya gets, with their name in place of Maya, then Make the link.
Press Copy link and send it however you like.
Here, as the owner, Robin sees the same page Priya would. Nothing on it can be claimed in the sample.
Where ShelfChronicles offers the link
What the link shows before it is claimed
Until it is claimed, the link shows only the five latest nights, titles and dates, and never the name you use for them.
