Trades

Marking items for trade, finding matches with people you know, and the notes that go with them.

Marking for trade

Anything you own can be marked For trade, For sale or Trade or sale, with a condition if you like, from Sealed to Well loved.

Pick Not offered, For trade, For sale or Trade or sale.

Pick a Condition if you like.

There is no public asking-price field. ShelfChronicles puts two collectors in touch and stops there; what you paid or sold for stays a private record in Budget.

Who sees your For trade list

Marked items form the For trade section of your profile, which has its own audience, friends by default. Something you keep off public pages is never offered to anyone.

Matches

Trades lists matches in both directions, across the people you are friends with or follow and nobody else: what they have that is on your wishlist, and what you have that is on theirs. Open it from the ⋯ menu on People.

Newest first, with a NEW slip for the last week's.

With none yet, it says both ways to make one: mark something For trade, or add to your wishlist.

When a note cannot be sent, the row says why, for example that your For trade list is kept from that person.

On a person's profile

The same matches show on each person's profile, in both directions, as far as their lists are open to you.

Trade notes

Trade talk is preset notes, one at a time. Once you both say yes, you can choose to show a contact or an email to that one person. Both are optional.

Press Tell them beside a match, on Trades or on the person's profile.

Pick a note and press Send. It is sent exactly as written.

Wait for their answer. Notes go one at a time.

Once you have both said Yes, let's talk, press Show my contact or Share my email if you want to.

The notes you can send

A trade conversation is made of preset notes, one at a time: I'm interested, would you swap, I have something from your wishlist, is it still available, Yes, let's talk, Not anymore and No thanks. No free text, no pictures, no links, and each reader sees the notes in their own language.

Showing a contact or your email

Once you both said yes, there is also Share my email: one tap shows the address you sign in with to that one person, in that conversation only, and Stop sharing hides it again. Nothing is shared unless you tap it.

Nothing is shown unless you press it, and a contact shows only to a friend or someone who follows you.

A conversation closes by itself after 30 quiet days, on a No thanks, a block or a report.
